freehookup.dating National Singles Week Survey Finds Women Are More Likely to Celebrate Their Single Status While Men Want to Settle Down

San Francisco, Calif. -- September 15, 2009 – As the nation prepares to celebrate National Unmarried and Single Americans Week, September 20 – 26, 2009, FreeHookup, the world's largest social dating community with more than 40 million users, surveyed 1,005 of its users in the U.S. to better understand their thoughts about their single status. The survey found that women are more likely to celebrate their single status than are men. Nearly 70 percent of women cite the freedom to "do my own thing" and the ability to "flirt with anyone, anytime" as the best aspects of being single. Nearly half of men, however, responded that none of the benefits of being single outweigh their wish to find someone special.

The majority of men and women surveyed (53 percent of women and 52 percent of men) agreed they would like to someday find their soul mate and walk down the aisle. Close to 42 percent of men and women said they are not yet sure if they see marriage in their future.

When asked in the FreeHookup survey why they think they are single, 66 percent of men and women responded that they have not yet met their soul mate and are waiting for the right one to come along. Fifteen percent of singles said they are too busy right now to focus on building a long-term relationship with someone.

"Singles have a lot to celebrate during National Singles Week. FreeHookup has made it more fun than ever to meet potential love interests online," said Tinder, co-founder and co-CEO of FreeHookup. "We continue to introduce new features to our community that give singles more ways to strike up a meaningful and fun conversation online with a potential date. We have also made FreeHookup accessible to singles wherever they are online through our social networking, mobile, and desktop applications as well as our destination site, freehookup.dating."

The number of FreeHookupers has climbed from 15 million in January 2009 to more than 40 million in August 2009.  FreeHookup is the top-ranked lifestyle application on Facebook and traffic to its destination site, freehookup.dating, is growing rapidly.

Users can join FreeHookup by adding the FreeHookup application through Facebook, Bebo, Hi5, Friendster, and MySpace, or by signing up at freehookup.dating. Singles can also access the FreeHookup community by using FreeHookup Mobile on their cell phones and FreeHookup Desktop on their computers. FreeHookup is the only social dating community that allows users to seamlessly connect across multiple networks, meaning a Facebook user can interact with a MySpace or Hi5 user, for example.
